A MESSAGE FROM DEMETRIA / 2016
A desperate and real need exists in our society to involve talented youth in artistic endeavors. Under the guidance of professionals, they can unleash their creative energy in a positive and productive way. If this energy is not harnessed and guided by the reins of disciplined and structured programs, the consequences will have great impact on society. Self-destructive and uncontrolled behavior will lead to the unhappiness of individuals, families, and the decline of nations.
The family, which is the foundation of society is in crisis and the children are on the front lines, casualties of the "me" generation. The disappearance of the extended family, constant mobility, and the shifting of parental priorities have left children feeling empty and with no purpose in life. The recent tragedies in our schools are a clear indicator that we must act immediately. Parents, teachers, and law makers must collaborate and find alternatives for a penal system that is a painful and costly solution. An increasing number of young children come home to an empty house and children are having children. It is the civic duty and moral responsibility of every person to help through philanthropy - to create after school programs that will enrich and bring a purpose to our children's lives. The universal language of art transcends ethnic barriers and societal strata. With your support, our youth can immerse in the creation of and art and emerge free. Each one of us can be a participant of art by contributing to such noble cause, to build a better future for our children and our nation.
Art and drama enables humans to experience on a subliminal level the delightful froth which emerges from the colliding forces of joy and happiness - to feel the crescendo of roaring flames in human suffering.
Eudonia Academy creates educational programs that enrich the lives of aspiring young artists, especially those with Special Needs, that enable them to reach their individual potentials. At the dawn of a new millennium, Eudonia Academy for the Arts was founded to facilitate the needs of talented youth. The academy mascot is the bird Eudonia, which bears an olive branch, a symbol of hope and peace.
