Demetria Olesen: FounderDemetria was born in Adroussa Greece and resided also in Kalamata where she attended private schools majoring in classic literature and the theatre. She also attended the French Institute of Kalamata Greece, winning awards. Her parents sent Demetria to Long Island New York for her college studies. She graduated from Stonybrook University in 1986 with a degree in English and Graduate Studies in Social Science.
Demetria has taught middle and high school classes in Language Arts and Drama. She has written and published poetry, the children's picture book Lambyro, the play Gypsy's Honor, that was performed in Greece in 2009. Demetria has also written the play Iphigenia of Argolia and Cinderella at Graceland. Both plays were performed in Austin for young audiences and she has written some newspaper articles. In October 2012, she completed the libretto for the opera Athena's Bequest about the Elgin Marbles. Professor, Donald Grantham of UT, Austin Texas has completed the composition for the above work. He received a grant from the University to write the composition. The Greek government has given permission to perform it at the Ancient Stadium of Ancient Messini Greece Demetria has directed and produced several plays including Iphigenia in Tauris at Sundance Utah. She loves to work with children of all ages and enjoys taking part in the creative process. She has finished the first sequel of the novel Bipolar Odyssey to be published this fall. |
